I don't understand how Chekov returned to active duty. Wasn't the creature to eat his brains out and cause madness and death? Why did it leave him before it had done so? Also, Kirk was taking a big chance letting him go on duty after being decieved by him once (when he was actually under Kahn's control.) Lawrence

a) Chekov is a nice guy. He can't die. b) The space-roach knew his friend died, and figured he better bail out before he got toasted. c) Kirk was taking a chance with Chekov, but did Checkov ever get to hold a phaser again in the movie??? Forrest

At one point Chekov did tell Kirk that Kahn had placed "creatures in our bodies" to control us . . and when Kirk had seen a creature slither from Chekov's ear he had correctly assumed that the right-thinking Checkov was back. As for why the thing (earwick?) had left Chekov ???? maybe when Chekov fell all of his internal vodka had rushed to his head and fumed out the nasty little creature. Chuck
