Hi! I am planning to buy SONY CDP1304HD monitor to go with my VRAM card. A local computer store advised me against it saying they are not very reliable. I would appreciate your feedback on this monitor. sunil ~~~~~

The SONY 1304 (aka CPD1304HD) is one of the few (only?) NON-interlaced 13-14 inch monitor in the $650 price range, that I've found. The other 1024x768 monitors, including the NEC MultiSync 3D and the Seiko 1430 are both INTERLACED. Reliability has not been an issue with any one of them, with the people I've spoken to. PS. Note that you need to match your monitor and your video card output, ie. BOTH need to be interlaced or NON-interlaced (NON is better). It's possible that a non-interlaced monitor could work with an interlaced video card - check the monitor specs.

BOTH need to be interlaced or NON-interlaced (NON is better). Theoretically, it's better. I own the Seiko 1430, which (I recently discovered by carefully scanning the docs) is interlaced. It's really not easy to tell. I've had it for a month now and only today produced an interlaced screen which wasn't rock-steady. Don't let interlacing scare you off. It can be done well. -- James W. I am currently using the Sony 1304, and find it an excellent monitor. Be aware that the Sony supports non-interlaced 1024x768 and the NEC does not. -J. John P. Silva "I drank WHAT?!"
