don.buchanan@canremote.uucp (DON BUCHANAN) (10/21/89)

I've been using the arc and dearcing (Narc) but you folks use .ZIP (.)
Where is that program? And how can I upload if I can't create .ZIP
files? I'll get back to you this weekend. I look forward to a reponse.
See you later!!!!

Howdy Don,

You should look for the Phil Katz ZIP utility. The latest version is
available as 'PKZ102.EXE'. You just run the executable file and it will
create the ZIP and UNZIP utilities on your disk in addition to various
bits of documentation. You might find that you local board only has
'PKZ101.EXE' which is alright as well since the update to v1.02 was not
a significant one. Do not obtain 'PKZ092.EXE' however since it does not
have the ability to handle the newer compression technique employed by
the latest version.

ZIP is used pretty much the same way as ARC although if you have been
using NARC you will have to remember that there are separate utilities
for creating, and for extracting from, ZIP files.
