[comp.sys.ibm.pc] CADKEY/IGES/HPGL to Mac PostScript conversion

keithr@tolkien.WV.TEK.COM (10/25/89)

A friend of mine has asked me to post this message:

I am a technical illustrator using Adobe Illustrator 88 on a Mac II
to create mostly isometric views of mechanical components for
publication. The design engineer in my division creates his 3D
geometry in CADKEY running on a Compaq 386. CADKEY produces files
formatted in IGES and HPGL. My question is: How may I most efficiently
make use of the engineering 3D geometry, and its viewing options
(orthographic, isometric, perspective) to create my illustrations?

Are there programs that convert PC HPGL to Mac PostScript? Should I set
my views up in CADKEY, print them out, then scan them for templates?
What in your view is the optimal solution?

Please email me any responses. Thanks in advance for any information you
can give.
