	I was under the impression VESA had already agreed up the under
256K extended EGA, that is 800x600x16, but that everything else was up in
the air.  The modes in question are:

	640x480x256 	(what most people call SVGA)
	800x600x256
and	1024x768x16	all of which require > 256K but < 512K.

	Which of these, if any, does VESA 2.0 address?

All requre some form of paging of the video buffer (with the cards currently
or soon to be on the market), so all require the features of the new VESA
2.0 specification.  The primary extensions are to allocate a new family of
video modes with lots of "fat" (that is, leave room for any conceivable
screen format in the standard: so we went to 16-bit mode numbers), and to
permit the caller access to the paging logic via a table of configuration
data (so he can decide when he needs to execute a paging call), and a set
of routines (or perhaps a single routine) to map a segment of the video buffer
into memory.

It should be all things to all people (at least in the VGA world).  It may
be useful...

In discussions regarding Super VGA modes I hear mention of VESA.  Can somebody
tell me exactly who is VESA and what there charter is?  Where can I obtain
a copy of their specification?
