I am trying to get TeX for an MSDOS machine. I successfully loaded SBTeX via anonymous ftp from venus.ycc.yale.edu, but we need a few more things. First, some sort of previewer to avoid all those wasted laser-printer pages Second, font metric files for the American modern fonts - SBTeX came with computer modern fonts which are not so pretty. (Question: are these font metric files just standard, so I can copy them from anywhere with no technical or legal problems) Cheers Gordon

Thought the reply might be of general interest. |First, some sort of previewer to avoid all those wasted laser-printer pages |Second, font metric files for the American modern fonts - SBTeX came with |computer modern fonts which are not so pretty. There are a couple of previewers in simtel ps1:<msdos.tex>. dview and dvivga if I recall. I have no experience with them. Secondly AM stands for Almost Modern. I don't know of many people who would agree with you that AM looks better than CM. I don't know where you can get even AM Metafont source now. Oh yeah, from some archival tapes here. :-) |(Question: are these font metric files just standard, so I can copy them from |anywhere with no technical or legal problems) Yes, you can copy them freely.
