On the surface ST-TMP was well within the bounds of the StarTrek series but somehow it was not quite "right". I can think of several reasons; but even collectively they don't seem like enough. I suspect that, for me, differences not consciously per

I too liked ST:TMP a lot. I did see, however, that you really had to be a trekkie to enjoy it that much. STII on the other hand, was a good movie in nd of itself, regardless of whether or not you are a trekkie. ST:TMP could have eliminated the first boring half hour tour of the Enterprise (I think the producers wanted to show off their special effects), added a few commercials, and they would have had a 2-part episode of the old TV series. STII seems to be designed more to appeal to today's action-adventure-SF movie audience rather than just the hard-core Star Trek fans. GREG (ucbvax!menlo70!hao!woods)
