I am posting this for a friend as he does not have posting privileges. I have changed the reply to line to his account so that I don't end up getting all the messages. Recently, I plugged my modem power cable into my keyboard port :-( Hardware = HP ES-12 Power cable = Pins 3,5 17.3 VAC ; Pins 1,4 27.5 VAC ; Pin 2 C.T. 1) Is the motherboard shot? (I assume so.) 2) Are my VGA, HD controler, mouse, etc. also gone? (I have no way of testing them) 3) What are some good motherboard replacements? (DTK, Micronics, ???) 4) What should I look for in another motherboard? (I have $525 to spend) 5) Will another motherboard (brand) be plug compatible with my existing power supply? Any light that could be shed on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated! Please reply to kmoore@polyslo.calpoly.edu Thanks in advance! -- Steven R.
