[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Heap problems on PC:s

I am writing a program using Borland's Turbo Pascal 5.5 for PC:s with 
MS DOS 3.0 or higher.

My problem is: Is there any way to compact the heap that is independent of
the hardware???
