I'm posting this for somebody without USENET access. Please reply

Hello, PC world!
A friend of mine (an electrochemist) is trying to find an inexpensive
data acquisition system for an IBM PC compatible; they only have access
to Taiwanese clones, so I expect an AT is tops.
The system should permit one to gather about 100,000 data points, compute
averages etc., store them and begin afresh. One "data point" means 3
values: variable potential within -3 -- +3 V with 1 mV accuracy, current
within 10E-9 -- 10E-3 amp with accuracy 1E-9, and something called phase
angle (I'm not sure I understand it correctly, so I won't try to describe
it.)
They have some quite able electronics technicians who should be able to
take care of the A/D interface etc; the thing that's needed is software.
It sounds like something simple. Has anyone heard of such a beast? Sources?
I'll appreciate any/all information you can provide. Please reply to
NBEHR @ ECNCDC.BITNET, if possible. Thanks -- Eric.

Your friend may wish to talk to National Instruments in Austin,
TX. They have a package called LabWindows that may provide the hardware
and software solution for your friend. They can be reached at
1-800-IEEE-488.
