The following tidbits may or may not be documented, and may or may not be widely known, but I thought I would pass them on since they have caused me a good deal of grief: Apparently (and not surprisingly, in retrospect) tools which operate directly on the FAT often do not work on files contained in directories on JOINed drives. In particular, the standard DOS "RECOVER" command will not map out bad sectors, and my shareware "UNERASE" utility will not restore a deleted file. However, both of these utilities work fine once I unJOIN the drive and operate directly on drive D: I am using generic MS-DOS 3.2. -- Peter Fales AT&T, Room 5B-420 N9IYJ 2000 N. Naperville Rd.
