[comp.sys.ibm.pc] quick questions on Toshiba laptops

aland@infmx.UUCP (Dr. Scump) (11/17/89)

Regarding the Toshiba laptop line:

   1) For the cheaper models (below the T3100e), what kind and how
many diskette drives are present? Are the diskette drives
720K or 1.44MB drives? What is the "lowest" model which has
1.44MB drives? (Zenith uses 1.44MB diskettes in all laptops
      that are 286- or 386-based).

   2) For these same models, what version of DOS do they ship with?
(It appears that the T3100e and higher all have DOS 3.3 and
all-1.44MB drives). We just bought a bunch of T1000s, and they
appear at first glance to come with DOS 2.11. (In contrast,
the Zeniths all come with DOS 3.3+, even the MiniSport).

Thanks in advance.

Check back issues of Byte magazine. The low end model uses 720K
drives. Aside from that, I'm not sure. An advertisement in a magazine
like Byte will tell you what size drives the computer has.

For all those models except the T1000 (different bird altogether), you
can get one or two 720k drives. One if you get a hard drive, 2 if not.

They all come with 3.3, again, except the T1000: it has 2.11 *in ROM* ...

That answers the question of why it doesn't have 3.3 ...
