I have a computer at work that has some serious problems. It is a genuine IBM 6MHz AT with an EGA board. First of all, the monitor shipped to us was broken (the flyback transformer was literally ripped off of the mother board!.) I've attempted to use a TTL monochrome monitor with it. I did some fiddling with the switches on the EGA card, and was able to get some video. I get a prompt, and the memory check. The second problem is that the computer does not seem to do anything else. After the video starts up, it goes first to A:, then B:, then the hard disk. No matter what, it will not boot. I've tried 360K and 1.2M disks in both A and B:. After this sequence, the computer then double beeps. Nothing new shows up on the monitor. 1. Even though I am using an EGA card, do I have to set a switch in the computer to use the mono monitor? 2. Any other suggestions? Andrew Rossmann andyross@ddsw1.MCS.COM
