---------------- Hi, At work I am trying to put a Microsoft MACH 20 (version 1.0) 286 board in a real IBM-PC/XT computer. I have followed the instructions for installation but have been unable to boot this thing (the system just hangs). I even tried using another IBM PC/XT but with the same results. Anyone messed with one of these boards? If anyone can also give suggestions on 286 plug-in cards for the PC it would be most helpful. Thanx. David A. Gonzales

*** Sorry about posting to the whole net but my mail bounced and this info may be of use to others.... I used to do product support for the Mach 20, but it's been a while and I don't have any of the information handy. The most important things to check are: 1) Make sure the the jumpers for the memory setting are correct (according to the amound of memory you have on the mother board and any expansion card, minus the Memory Plus). 2) Make sure none of the I/O ports conflict with other boards in the system (easy way to check is to pull other nonessential boards, i.e. _not_ the hard drive, video card, floppies, etc). 3) Try plugging the 8088 back in. If the computer boots probably something is wrong with the Mach 20 (you have probably eliminated this possibility by testing it in two machines). My guess is that there is something wrong with the board (since you've tried 2 machines, both true blue IBM's). Also, the Mach 20 will NOT replace an 8086, some XT's came with 8086's. If this is the case, the Mach 20 will not work.
