I just received my IBM PagePrinter II Model-031 (their latest low end Postscript printer). One of its features is a software driver that captures printer requests and sets the printers emulation mode based on which LPTx: port the output is sent to. For instance, if I send output to LPT1, the printer sets up for Postscript code. If I send output to LPT2, it sets itself up for HP LaserJet+ mode. LPT3 is IBM ProPrinter mode. And, LPT4 is Diablo 630 mode. My problem is that Microsoft Word completely freezes my machine (locks out CTRL-ALT-DEL too!) if I try to send anything to the printer when this emulation software is active. Everything is fine if I unload the emulation software. I called three reps at the local IBM office and got no help with this problem. Has anyone else solved it yet?...
