Hello netters, I need some suggestions from you. A friend of mine just bought a PS/2 model 30 with 20M hard disk and 80286 processor. When he cheked it with the starter diskette that comes with the machine, it recognized the harddisk as installed (the harddisk is really there of course !). But it has not been formatted yet. When he wanted to format the disk the DOS always returned the message "Invalid drive specification". With this message I believe that this message means the harddisk is undetectable by the DOS. Could somebody help him out (or help me out to help him) with this problem ? Should we do a low level format ? But how can we find the address in the ROM ? One more information the harddisk is ST251x type (I thought there is one more letter after digit 1 but I couldn't recall what it is). Please e-mail me whenever possible or post to this newsgroup.
