Greetings, Net-folk, I would like a recommendation on a tape drive for use with an IBM PC/XT system. Two of them, actually. One belongs to an office here (they have one 20 mb hard disk). The other is my own personal machine (one 30 mb and one 53 mb). Any input that you can offer (either negative or positive) would be appreciated. Price is somewhat of a concern here. I noticed some outfit called Colorado Memory Systems has tape drives on sale cheap through many of the mail order firms in Computer Shopper. Any comments on this brand? (Or any other....Archive, Everex, Mountain, etc.) Thanks! I highly recommend the CMS tape drive. I've been using it for about 3 months and find it to be great! The software is well thought out. The hardware is well built. The manuals are clear and easy to read. And I don't work for CMS. You should understand, however, that the CMS tape drive does plug in via the floppy controller so you can only have one floppy drive attached unless you buy an additional card from CMS. I don't have much info on other drives but a friend told me he was quite unhappy with his archive, and another friend told me the everx was rather expensive. ----------------------------------------------------------------- John Mattioli Most improved skier (american blind skiers association 1989) and humble to!
