[comp.sys.ibm.pc] file handles problem under DOS 3.21

pjd@hpuxa.ircc.ohio-state.edu (Peter J. Dotzauer) (12/07/89)

Under DOS 3.21, sometimes (but not always) I get the message 'insufficient
file handles to run WordPerfect'. It seems that is a parameter that
somehow gets accumulated while other applications are run, and not
properly cleared when the applications are terminated.

After I reboot, I can run WordPerfect alright. Is there a solution other
than rebooting?

Yes, add the line:
FILES=20
to your CONFIG.SYS file.
This specifies the number of files that	can be open at a time.
