My brother-inlaw has a Columbia Data Systems PC that he would like to install an internal modem in. The problem he is having is that the comm program he is using (a security alarm installer configuration program) only allows the modem to be installed at COM1: or COM2:. The Columbia has dedicated serial ports at COM1: and COM2: . Is is possible on this system to disable/re-assign the on-board com ports? The manual shows several "unused" switch positions on the config dip-switches , hopefully one of these is actually tied to the serial decoding logic. If memory serves me, last I heard was that a place called "Godfathers Computers" in Florida bought all the rights to CDS. Are they still in business and supporting the Columbia ? Any help would be appreciated. Jeff -- _____________________________________________________________________________ F-14 \ _ / | Jeffrey M.
