[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Need info on Xebec HD controller

khearn@uts.amdahl.com (Bug Hunter) (12/09/89)

I have aquired a miniscribe model 3012 hard drive, and a Xebec controller
from a Telex 270AP that was being disposed of at work. I'd like to
install this drive on my AT clone at home, but I've run into a few
problems. My machine at home (a Packard-Bell AT clone), has a hard
drive with IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) (which I still want to
keep, it works fine, i just want the extra 10Meg), so I don't have
the option of installing the new drive with the old controller,
since there really isn't an old controller, its built into the old
hard drive . (At least that's how i understand it). So it looks like
I'm going to have to install the Xebec controller. The only problem
is that I have no documentation on this controller, and I've been
told that Xebec is out of business (is this true?).

I need to know what settings to use on the jumpers and dip switches on the
controller to set it up to be at CA00 instead of C800. Does anyone out
there have one of these things? I don't know what model it is, but its
13" x 4", and has one 31-contact edge connector (PC, not AT bus) and
at one end says "ASSY 104446 REV A-01". If anyone out
there has one of these, could you please contact me so I can find out
  the configuration info? Thanks alot.

If anyone has any other ideas on how I can install this thing, I'd
  greatly appreciate the help.

Keith
