[net.movies] Hollywood gets a CRAY /22 ?

svb (08/11/82)

After the success of TRON - Hollywood gets a CRAY X-MP/22
(dual processor X-MP, 2 MWords of 64 bits).

For high quality picture they generate 6000 x 4500 pixels (!!!)
and with the current 1S/1000 it takes 15 minutes per frame which
amounts to 4 minutes of film per month!! With the new machine
25 minutes of film per month. How did they produce TRON ??!!
I don't quite understand. It took them 1 1/2 years??

Anyway: for details read the newest Electonics (August 11),
page 56. That is the place I have the information from.

What is actually the copyright situation ?? Would it be legal just
to send it over the net??
