I just installed a tape drive in my 286/20 system that has a an Addonics dual hard/dual floppy controller. This is an Irwin 100-series tape drive that is designed to be connected to the floppy controller as an additional floppy drive. The problem is that I already have two floppy drives (1.2M & 1.4M) and don't want to disable one of them in favor of the tape unit, and don't want to have to open the machine up to switch the controller cables. Can I set up some sort of external switch (mounted, say, on the back panel) that would allow me to switch between the tape and the 5" floppy unit? Is there an easier solution (that doesn't involve an expensive new controller board)? The current controller documentation indicates that I cannot have another controller in the system, so.... THANKS for any suggestions! ___________________________________________________________________ _________ / Marcus Clenney ___ ___ /___ ___/ ________ / U. of Central Florida / | / | / / / ______/ / Dept. of Computer Science / /| | / /| | / / / / / Orlando, FL 32816 / / | |/ / | | / / / /_____ / wordproc@ucf-cs.ucf.edu /_/ |___/ |_| /_/ /_______/ / ____________________________________________________________/
