Felix and Oscar met as children when their respective fathers got tied up in some way I don't remember. The show was rarely consistent from episode to episode, so they may have met some other way as well. Shouldn't there be a net.tv, or a net.tv.makes.you.stupid for flaming about old sit-coms and the like? ---Evan (nuu@ai)

They met originally as kids, in a hotel where Felix's family was staying temporarily while fleeing "the Mob". Felix's father was an optometrist, Oscar's father worked at a speakeasy where he was the guy at the door who let people in/kept them out (what do you call this job, anyway? brain damage ...). Oscar's father (nicknamed Squinty or something like that) went to Felix's father to improve his vision so he could keep his job. Oscar's father invited Felix's father to the speakeasy to show his thanks, and Felix's father, being like Felix (or rather the other way around), was outraged when he learned that it was a speakeasy, and calls for the cops. (You don't really want to know the rest of the plot do you?). At any rate, Felix's father and his family eventually have to leave town (Chicago, I think). One day Felix recounts the story to Oscar, and Oscar remembers the "whistling knickers" that Felix wore in the hotel...
