[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Dos Command Changes

gb032119@sjuphil.uucp (Glenn M. Brunette) (12/08/89)

I would like to know if there exists a program (public domain/marketed)
that will allow me to change actual Dos Commands (such as "copy").
I know that this can be done through sector editing, but I am looking
     for a written program.

NOTE : A program was written for the Apple Computer called Dos Boss
(by Beagle Bros.) which does the preceeding tasks. Did they
ever write a version for IBM.

Also : This program will be used to change some Dos commands on
networked IBM (and compatible) computers. Will this make
            a difference?

Thanks in advance. Please respond by Email.

I would highly recommend changing your dos command interpreter to 4dos. This
is a program that replaces the normal command.com. It allows you to specify
aliases for commands. I use it and found it to be much better than command.com.
I set up aliases for unix like commands (cp, rm, ls, etc). Plus it can load
most of its resident portion to EMS. The latest version is 2.21 (I think) and
is available on most BBS's or from wuarchive.wustl.edu (128.252.135.4) as
4dos22.arc.
