[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Thanks

ugwayne@sunybcs.UUCP (02/25/87)

This is just a note to say "Thank You" to all the people who responded to my
posting "Unbuffered I/O using Microsoft C 3.0". I tried to respond to each
person who answered individually but ran into difficulties with Unknown Paths
and the like. I really appreciated all the input and especially the actual
example code that some people mailed to make their point. This really helped.

A special thank you goes to both Tom Reingold and Tom May who actually
contributed working examples of the question that I had asked about.

Just a quick thankyou to those who mailed me basename.c (8 copies!)
also to tbetz@upaya.edu . I have tried to mail individual thanks, but
more than half have bounced and I don't want to appear ungrateful.

I'm still trying to get the INSTALLR.EXE so's I can setup my ST11
controller properly. I have no qualms about asking for it, it's no
use to anyone for anything else, so please, anyone...

Cheers all!
Dave E.

Thanks to everybody who helped me with uuen/decode. Your insights were
of great help to me.

-Speaking of Logitech equipment, can anyone tell me (hopefully from
-experience) as to whether or not installing their scanner will result in
-the non-functionality of either com[12] serial ports?

  Thanks. Several people have responded that they have not had any
  problems. (and that's good enough for me 8-)). Now I can go out and
  pick one up with a clear concious.

->$   I have a Packard Bell 6/12MH 286 Clone (the Legend V/Force 286 Model)
->$   with 1MB memory, DOS 3.3.
->$ advertised at 12MH is the 80C287-A. Can I use either or neither?
-
-Don't buy the 80C287-A for you machine! It's in a new packaging that
-won't fit in your coprocessor socket!! It's a low-power cmos part that
-fits in some new laptops.

  Thanks. Several have responded that the CMOS 287 won't fit. After finally
  getting ahold of P.B. Tech Support, they recommended the 80NS memory
  (which Sabina has for $99/Meg) and the 80287-10 coprocessor.
