I am interested in buying a vert small portable/laptop PC. So far I have only seen the NEC Ultralite and the Compaq LTE. Size is important as I would like to fit it inside a brief case (if possible). I will only use it for some light word processing and some simple spreadsheet. I will also appreciate any info on where to buy it cheaply. Thanks in advance. -- ************************************************************ Gavin Zau Dept of Chemical Engineering, MIT gavin@caf.mit.edu mefl@eagle.mit.edu

I have the Toshiba T1000 laptop which weighs 6.4 pounds including 4-hour batteries, and does fit into a briefcase. It comes with MS-DOS 2.11 in ROM, one 720k, 3.5" floppy drive, and 512k of RAM. You find it offered in the computer rags, at least here on the West Coast, for $600-650. You can get an internal 1200Bd modem for it, as well as a ~770k RAM expansion board; the latter can be made to work like a hard drive - as long as there is any juice left in the batteries. I have neither of those two. Guenter Steinbach gunter_steinbach@hplabs.hp.com
