[comp.sys.ibm.pc] puzzler with a different twist

vozel@pmday_1.Dayton.NCR.COM (Keith Vozel) (12/13/89)

I am having a problem that I thought was similar to one that was recently
discussed, however, my attempts to solve it have been unsuccessful. Here's
my scenario, please help if you can.....

I am currently running an XT Clone with MS-DOS 3.2. When trying to
upgrade to MS-DOS 3.3, I am not successful. I do all the proper
copying of the system with SYS C: after booting 3.3 from the A drive,
and copy all of the proper files (CONFIG.SYS,ANSI.SYS, etc).
When I go to boot from the C drive, my system hangs. It goes through
the initial diagnostics and memeory check, hits the A drive, reads
some stuff off of C, resets my printer, and then hangs. No display on
the screen and no error messages. I try this many different ways and
still no success. I have even backed-up my entire hard drive, booted
with 3.3 from the floppy, did and FDISK and reformatted the hard
drive. Still no luck. Every time I boot it just hangs after resetting
    the printer.
I start over and install 3.2 again, and everything is fine!.!.!

Help! What, if anything am I doing wrong? Is there a problem with
    my machine.

In addition, I have also tried to install 4.01. Even used the same
FDISK/FORMAT procedure, and guess what, the system hangs after
   reseting the printer!.!.!.!.!

Reinstall 3.2 and everything works. Please help me!.!.!.

   Thanks for any help.......
