[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Anyone using Sony 1302 with VGA?

indra@amdcad.AMD.COM (Indra Singhal) (12/14/89)

The last time I tried to upgrade to a VGA, I tried Paradise and the Orchid
boards and both had severe switching problems between EGA and VGA with the
Sony 1302. When in EGA I would loose a lot of screen real-estate and the
application occupied a small central portion only.

Is anyone out there using a VGA card with this monitor successfully?
Inquiring minds want to know !

Please e-mail directly if possible. Thanks.

	I have the Paradise VGA-PLUS 16 driving a 1302 and have experienced
the same problem when the monitor switches into the graphics mode (MS Flight
Simulator especially), however I just lose screen height(can be adjusted
vi vert size control on back-panel). There is a "compatibility switch" on
the 1302 that lets the monitor act as a PS/2 compatible monitor or a
multifreq. style monitor. I forget which setting I eventually settled on
(I believe it was the multi-freq setting, I'll check and if I'm wrong
I'll post the correction) but this greatly reduced the occurences of
screen size changes. You may want to try experimenting with this, just reboot
your computer after changing the setting as I believe the monitor and/or card
re-configures it/themselvles at that time.
All-in-all I couldn't be happier with this monitor/card combo.
