Does anyone know which BIOSes support Hard Drives that have more than the 1024 DOS CYLINDER LIMIT... I need to know this for both XT BIOS and AT BIOS... I have an AT PHEONIX 3.10 BIOS and I don't think there was any support for 1224 cylinders in the drive list..... Is there anyway to get around this using special software such as Disk Manager or Speedstore... Also, does the Hard Drive Controller BIOS automatically support drives greater than 1024 cylinders... In other words, is it BOTH the Computer BIOS and HD Controller BIOS that allows you to use hard drives greater than 1024 cylinders? I have a Maxter 2190 drive which has 1224 cylinders 15 heads.... I would like to use all 1224 cylinders but currently can only access 1024 cylinders.... I am also using Disk Manager 3.4 with it... Thanks in advance... The only program I found that would work for me was Speedstor and I had to get the latest version before I got it working (I tried several others). I also had to buy Speedcache (which I like BTW) to keep the size of DOS down (the buffers get real big when you have large partitions). I am using MS-DOS 3.3. I hear that 4.01 supports big partitions without additional software. -- Tom Thackrey sun!amdahl!tat00 [ The opinions expressed herin are mine alone. ]
