I have discovered what appears to be a major bug with the Running-heads formatting feature in Microsoft Word 5.0. It seems that whenever I format a paragraph as a Running-head, the paragraph disappears from the screen, with no way to get it back; however, the paragrah still shows up as a Running-head when I print out the document. This is a big problem, since it's impossible to edit the Running-head (or even see what it is). This bug didn't exist under Word 4.0, and as far as I can tell from the manual, there aren't any major changes between 4.0 and 5.0 in the way you define Running-heads. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a real bug? Does Microsoft know about it, and do they plan to do anything about it? Thanks, David R. Kohr M.I.T. This occurs when the Options Show Layout (Alt-F4) is enabled. There should
also be a "LY" at the bottom of your screen. To view the running head, just
turn the option of (Alt-F4 toggles) and the running head should be visible.

Sounds like you are running in "show layout" mode--which is _defined_ to
_not_show_ running heads on the screen. Just turn-off the "show layout"
option via the options menu or <alt-F4>.
