I have a Seagate ST412/RLL controller and drive package. (That is an ST11R RLL controller and a ST238R hard disk.) For some strange reason, not mentioned in the instructions, it does not want to boot from the floppy drive (360K drive A:) if the disk is non-DOS... In other words, I can't boot Marble Madness or MINIX from the floppy. I get a "Disk boot failure- press any key to retry." message. If I remove the controller and hard drive, everything boots like normal from the floppy, but when I put the controler & HD back in, the only thing that will boot from the floppy is DOS. Does anyone else have this configuration, and know a way around this? Why does this happen, and why would Seagate mke a controller like that? -- +-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------+ | Ed Federmeyer | Internet: ed@iitMax.iit.edu | | "Unauthorized access is | Bitnet: sysed@iitVax | | strictly unauthorized." | Office: (312) 567-5981 | +-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------+
