[net.movies] Reaction to "Pink Floyd - The Wall"

gordonl (09/27/82)

After seeing the previews on both "Sneak previews" and Siskal and
Ebert's new show (very similar; they use a skunk rather than a dog!)
I had expected a powerful combination of music and imagery. The
school and dictator scenes, especially.

These two clips were, in my opinion, the high points of
the movie. The other images and music were all much more violent,
abstract, and depressing. I'm all in favor of depressing movies
as a cathartic or emotional catalyst (such as "if...") but I found
"PF - The Wall" to be depressing and uninteresting.
