A friend has recently been scaring me with stories of random lockups on cheap 386 systems, apparently caused by some of the cheaper boards not meeting timing specs adequately. I'm looking for a cheap 386, 386sx, or 286-with-hardware-LIM-on-the-motherboard (i.e. NEAT or such) motherboard to transplant into the box running my bbs, so that I can run DesqView and go multiline (the bbs software involved will allow this, just barely). Does anybody have ideas on how to identify a reliable, extremely cheap, supplier for this? Since the system will run 24hrs a day, mostly unattended (i.e. I'm away from home all day), I'd prefer a minimum of hardware lockups!
