We were going to purchase some Miniscribe hard drives, but since we have heard that Miniscribe was in trouble, we haven't send out the purchase order yet. Today I talked to a friend in CA, and according to him, the Miniscribe is "GONE". Is there anybody who know what is going on, or if this rumor is true (it may be true in certain degree)? Our major concern is about the warranty service. The truth is, the Leading Edge still owe their dealers a lot of money, and the warranty service is still very slow and inefficient.

Most people watching them expect them to file Chapter 11 within the week. Note that this is *not* a bankruptcy filing, but a "reorganization" which will allow them to hold off creditors for a bit and figure out how to get themselves out of a mess that former management apparently got them into. (Their problems are reported to stem from bad management and dishonest accounting; they've had consistently good products.) -- Dick Dunn rcd@ico.isc.com uucp: {ncar, nbires}!ico!rcd (303)449-2870 ...Mr. Natural says, "Use the right tool for the job."

I called 800 directory assistance and got the number to Miniscribe. I called the number and got the help I needed. So Miniscribe is still (so far) alive and kicking. Joseph J. Starry starry@silver.bacs.indiana.edu

From what I have heard about the "dishonest accounting", they will be building an annex to their offices with all the extra BRICKS lying around! -- Sincerely Yours Tris Orendorff tris@alzabo.uucp -----------------------------------------------------------------------
