  'Vopt' for several years and still value it over PCTool's 'compress'
  and Norton Utilities.

  'Vopt' is fast, quite safe and does pretty good work.  It doesn't 
  try to optimize the disk usage to the highest extent, but normally
  that is inadequate  -  there are always some changes in the disk,
  ie., new files, old files growing etc.  And the speed at which
  it works is just incredible  -  say, tens of seconds to a few minutes.
