[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Unwanted "/NOI" switch on MicroSoft 5.0

harty@masscomp.ccur.com (Kevin Harty) (01/08/90)

	I'm having problems loading
	rev 5.0 of microsoft C.

When I "cl" anything I get,

		switch "/NOI" unreconized.

I've reloaded this sucker 5 times , same results.

	Anyone else seen this ?

P.S. BTW I'm not using the NIO switch and can't find anything
that enables me to disable it. It's the default.

Check to see if you have an older version of LINK.EXE still in the
path (say, from an assembler or an older version of QuickC or MSC). I had
a similar problem, and I had an old version of link sitting in the path
from installing MASM. If you find an old LINK.EXE, remove it and replace it
with the current one. LINK.EXE is compatible with previous versions. The
problem occurred because MAKE and CL search the path for LINK, and will run
the first version they find.

I have no connection whatsoever with MicroSoft.
