Is anyone out there doing any Desktop Publishing in an MS-DOS environment? A non-profit foundation I belong to is interested in setting up such an environment, but they (we) would first like to find out from others what they are using and what results they are getting. Please E-mail me any responses, as I am not (and ..sigh.. don't have time to be) subscribed to this newsgroup. Thankin' you in advance... The company I'm currently involved with produces a few small local newspapers. They want to move to DTP. A single page of their paper is 11" x 14". Does this present a problem for the Software or Hardware? If not, is asking for 14" x 22" too much? We want to buy into something that will do the job and can be upgraded in about a year when the cash flow returns. Currently we have about 7,000 budgeted to get into a starter system. The volume of pages weekly will be around 100 to 150, 11 x 14's. This included some drafts and mistakes. We are planing to purchase thru mail order. Need: AT 286 VGA white screen ( to keep costs down) Full Page scanner Laser or Ploter?? DTP software ????? I mentioned Ploter, can a DTP package use a plotter? What would a reproduction of a photo look like? Speed isn't an issue, size of output and quality is. As stated above, this company really needs a Software/Hardware setup to produce output in one of two sizes: 11" x 14" OR 14" x 22" I've made the assumption that software will be less of a problem, I'm researching Lasers and Plotters now and quizing the net on software. Thank For any help or info you can give. John M. Cook
