I agree with Andy on the editing job done to Blazing Saddles. What irked me more than anything is that the editors saw fit to leave in all the references to "niggers" and "chinks", but the wouldn't let us hear the farting cowboys, perhaps the best scene in the movie. I would hope that most people are more offended by a black person being called a nigger than to hearing a fart. This is one of the more ridiculous examples of inconsistant editing. Want another? They wouldn't let the characters say "Lillie Von Schtupp", but the let us read it on a poster. If you're not old enough to read, do you still know what "schtupp" means? But I don't think the movie should have been cut at all. I would have gladdly but up with disclaimers regarding racially and verbally offensive material of both during commercial breaks in exchange for a unexpurgated "Blazing Saddles". Maybe I've lived on the east coast too long but I find that it's a little too late for the network moguls to prevent tender little ears from hearing the word "shit", a word we used frequently even in my grammar school days.
