[net.movies] It Came from Hollywood

ARPAVAX:UNKNOWN:upstill (10/31/82)

Those who only know about this one from print advertising should
be aware that ICfH is a collection of clips from grade Z movies
of the past, mostly horror and sf, mostly the fifties, mostly
rank to the point of hilarity, interspersed with commentary and
skits by the likes of Cheech & Chong, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd
and John (SCTV) Candy.
People who didn't spend hundreds of hours of their adolescent
years watching cheesy movies on Creature Features et al will
finally find out what they missed. The clips are pretty funny,
but the skits are about half-and-half; John Candy is pretty good,
C&C mostly bite the big one.
In all, the show is not a very satisfying moviegoing experience
and is best awaited on cable, where it will be in record time I bet.
Readers of Cinefantastique take note: This is not the same beast
that was written up in the last issue. It is longer (mostly due to
extra sections on Teenage movies and musicals), and has no evident
involvement by Universal (it is a Paramount release) or John Landis,
for whose name I scoured the credits. Horror buffs will note this
means many fewer movies to choose from, and also, disappointment of
disappointments, it does NOT include Alfred Hitchcock's trailer for
Psycho, alas.
