Sorry - incorrect. Only a part of the names used was derived from that source.

It seems now that the primary motive was simple extortion - when the Trojan
(note: it is NOT a virus) scrambled the disk, you were supposed to send
a check to Panama in order to get a program to unscramble the disk. 

The plan did not work and it is now fairly certain that they lost a good
deal of money :-)
