Has anybody gotten one of the new T1000SEs from Toshiba? How do you like it? For the curious, the T1000SE is a new low-priced laptop retailing for $1699. It has a nice screen and keyboard, no hard disk, one 1.44Mb 3.5" floppy, 1Mb RAM (expandable to 3Mb, I believe), DOS 3.3 in ROM. It's roughly 6 pounds, so it falls in the notebook class of computers. I have the Toshiba J3100 which is the Japanese market version of the T1000SE. It's virtually identical in packaging except that it has a dark gray case vs the white one. It comes with DOS 3.1 on disk but has the option of booting off a non-volatile RAM disk (only using the supplied DOS). It has 1.5M RAM tho'. It's the nicest small laptop that I've ever seen and is far far better than the T1000. The screen is backlit and is it's most impressive feature. I love the keyboard which I think is better than those available on the Zenith Minisport or the NEC Ultralite. My only negative comment is about the battery life which is short as noted in reviews. It's not too important since I use it around the house rather than on long plane trips but it could be a big problem for others...
