I've run Norton's Utilities Advanced on several machines, and normally it knows if a VGA, or EGA, or CGA is the video board. I have a Paradise VGA Professional board with 512K ram in an AMI Mark II motherboard (25 mhz,w/cache) and Norton's SI indicates the video system is "Enhanced Graphics" with 256K. [During this summer, putting the same video board in a 386SX motherboard, had Norton's SI correctly indicating it was a VGA board and not an A]. Here's my question: When I first set up the AMI, I used an EGA board (also by Paradise), and then switch to the VGA board. I have since then, run the built in setup program (in the AMI BIOS) several times, but Norton's SI still indicated it only sees an EGA board with 256K. I might mention that the VGA works as it should, and the advanced modes with 256 colors (such as for viewing .GIF files) works as a proper VGA board should. Would disconnecting the CMOS backup battery help? Have other people found this with AMI motherboards with Paradise VGA Pro video? Thanks for any email or responses. ---------------------------------------- | STANDARD DISCLAIMER: | | "... on the other hand, some very | akcs.amparsonjr@vpnet.uucp | knowledgable people may justifiably | | disagree with my comments, in whole | | or in part ...
