I recently purchased a copy of Word Perfect 5.1 (the educational edition for what it's worth) and had difficulties installing it. I was able to reach the final stages of installation where you type in your serial number and found my system hanging and refusing keyboard input. I (eventually) Word Perfect and was told that version 5.1 has problems with "certain" expanded memory drivers (I have SEMS.SYS). I was told to run using WP /NE . I managed to complete the install of printers by removing the driver from config.sys (at which point my system thinks I have neither extended or expanded memory) and rerunning the last stages of install. I also find I cannot use Sidekick with Word Perfect 5.1- I have no idea if this is the usual case, since I'm new to WP. Ron Sidwell

I went through the installation twice, and the serial number is only an option to have it handy for you when you call their tech asst line. I as a matter of fact, didn't use the number. In the commercial version, you do not have to record the serial number into the help screen. (I think that is where it shows up). Two questions: 1) What does the educational version cost, and what CAN'T it do that the regular version does (you may not know this, but I'm curious) I upgraded from 5.0 for the $87 +. 2) Is it upgradable, if it is not the equivalent to the normal 5.1? I had it on an XT with Intel's AboveBoard 286 (1 meg expanded) and had no problem installing it. The board requires Intel's EMS driver (ver 4.0)
