Some acquaintances and I have had problems with PS/2 Model 30-286s, specifically: 1) the machines hangup when we try to use memory above 1 MB (the machines are equipped with 2 MB), this has happened with "reputable" programs such as DesqView; 2) floppies formatted on the machines cannot be read on clones, although floppies from clones can be read on the 30-286. Also, sometimes the drive cannot read or write floppies which were formatted on it; the problem is irregular, so a disk may fail but then succeed if tried a second time. If you have had these or similar problems with 30-286s, please send an account of your problem(s) via EMAIL to me. I will summarize to the net. If you are successfully running DesqView or OS/2 or otherwise regularly access RAM above 1 MB, please also send EMAIL telling the software and your experience. Thanks for your help. -- Richard L.
