Has anyone had experience with AskSam for academic writing purposes? I have
seen a demo disk, 4.1, but it is not clear that it is the most convenient
program to use for quick entry of bibliographic material, for keyword retrieval
where you have many keywords and need a quick list of them and other
authorities, as in such programs as Reference Manager (the latter is too
restrictive on formats and journals; e.g., you cannot enter magazine and
newspaper dates, for it seems to be set up only for science/medical journals).I
have used Tracker which is slow, rather simple, and sometimes awkward;
moreover, its reports are not capable of emulating standards biblio formats,
although, interestingly enough, reports can be transferred to any ascii word
processor for editing. If you have had experience with any of these programs
and can offer any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Ben Singer.
