I need a little advice here. One of my users felt that he absolutely had to have 4 Megs in his AST Premium 286. Now that he's gotten his hands on a copy of Lotus 1-2-3 Version 3.0 he wants to set up the memory as extended. The problem is that when we set the switches on the board for extended it doesn't react. The problem as I understand it is that extend memory is that above the 640 K range. But if the first 640K is on the first 2Meg Fastram card then it too is affected by the switch settings. Even if we set the second card only to extended, the setup routine doesn't recognize that it is out there. It returns a message that says it doesn't match its readings. So what the devil do I have to do to make this work? The memory is comprised of 2 2Meg cards. I am aware that 1-2-3 has some problems using the extended memory of some AST machines but this one may be new enough to have a revised BIOS in it. I just want to get the extended memory working before I worry about the Lotus problem.
