I have already submitted one posting about this.. I had the model number Totally wrong... it is a CDC 94205-51 40meg drive. So again, my question is ... What is the drive TYPE for an AT class machine... and .. Should I have any problems adding this as a 2nd hard drive unit along with my Seagate 20meg as my boot drive? My best bet was a pd prog called drivtypes. It reads your bios and reports all drives supported and gives their params (nice). Although some bios vendors have tried to keep the original IBM AT supported types (1-23), there are so many hard drives on the market now this is really a moot point. Of course you still need to know some specs on your drive before picking the right type. A third party hd prog might help there, such as disk manager, or speedstore. I think (not sure here) that both will report what they think your drive looks like. If you choose t let one of these low-level the disk for you it might make things easier. hope this helps some. -- Barton A. From article <524@fedeva.UUCP$, by mitch@fedeva.UUCP (Mitch Wood): $ I have already submitted one posting about this.. I had the model number $ Totally wrong... it is a CDC 94205-51 40meg drive. Should $ I have any problems adding this as a 2nd hard drive unit along with my $ Seagate 20meg as my boot drive? (C:) $ The CDC 94205-51 has 989 cyl, 5 heads RWC=990, WPC=128. I have one of these animals. Most AT drive tables I have seen do not have a match to this drive. When I was using it in an Epson Equity II+, I used Drive Type 17 (977 cyl, 5 head). The new AMI BIOS has a type 47 that is user defined. If your BIOS has a user defined type, that is probably the one you want. Otherwise, you will have to settle on one that is 977 cyl, 5 heads. -- |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| |Glen Midkiff osu-cis!dsacg1!gmidkiff | |From the Internet: gmidkiff@dsac.dla.mil | |Phone: (614)-238-9643 @DLA, Systems Automation Center, Columbus, Oh. |
