oneill@getafix.slcs.slb.com (Dennis O'Neill) (01/23/90)
My group is responsible for a rather heterogeneous collection of Sun 3 and Sun 4s, Silicon Graphics, and Macintosh workstations. Some recent arrivals have requested that we also support IBM-compatible PCs. We would like to provide the following to these users: file service printer sharing electronic mail Usenet News Our existing systems communicate quite happily (more or less) using TCP/IP, NFS based fileservers, and PhoneNet and Cayman Gator boxes for the AppleTalk connection. We're using PC-NFS to give Telnet and FTP service to the current PCs and we're told that we're just a demon or two away from providing some (all?) of the above. Can anyone provide some first-hand experience on whether this is a reasonable path to pursue? Please reply via e-mail and I'll summarize the responses.
