[comp.sys.ibm.pc] VGA Problems...why blue?

austin@bucsf.bu.edu (Austin H. Ziegler, III) (01/19/90)

Could anyone tell me why a machine that had, five minutes before,
been full-color VGA, is no longer full-color, but only BLUE (light and dark
cyan, actually)? Email responses ASAP.

Your monitor cord isn't plugged in all the way. You are getting the green
and blue pins (GREEN + BLUE = CYAN) but aren't getting the red pin.

Wiggle the plugs at the monitor and CPU end, and make sure they are plugged
in all the way. If all else fails, get a new monitor cord.

(this happened to me last year, but it was my green pin that wouldn't
make good contact)

Sounds like you lost RED and GREEN guns or DACs.

If you're really unlucky it could be a fault in the tube, more likely it's
 just a bad cable/connector.
