[comp.sys.ibm.pc] VGAs, backward compatibility with newer Herc standards

goer@sophist.uucp (Richard Goerwitz) (02/03/90)

This is a quick query: Does anyone know of any auto-switch or
other video cards that are Herc Plus compatible. I see many,
many advertisements for cards that are "Herc" compatible (in-
cluding the Hercules VGA itself). Followups inevitably reveal
that compatibility only extends to the original card, and not
to the more recent (and much more flexible) Herc Plus. I know
that this is a shot in the dark, but any help would be appre-
ciated.

Right now I am running an ATI VGA, which again is compatible only
with the _original_ Hercules standard.

Indicentally, this reminds me: My ATI didn't come with a mouse.
I assume that many got versions that did, but didn't need the
mouse. Anyone have an extra one around?

I thought the Herc VGA was one of the few that *wasn't* Herc compatible.
Am I confused again?
